Overview

This course focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system.

You will learn a broad range of therapeutic interventions, including joint adjustment/manipulation and mobilisation, soft tissue therapies, psychological therapeutic modalities, exercise and rehabilitation prescription and nutritional advice.

Anatomy, physiology and pathology courses underpin the studies of physical examination, differential diagnosis and clinical practicum.

You’ll begin work-integrated learning in your 1st year with clinical observations in the RMIT Health Sciences Clinic. In the final two years, you'll undertake clinical placement at the clinic under the supervision of a registered practitioner.

You'll also have the opportunity to provide chiropractic care under supervision to people who are socially or financially disadvantaged through RMIT's partnership with Sacred Heart Mission, Hands on Health Australia and The Wellington Community Centre.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
