Overview

La Trobe's Bachelor of Health Sciences and Master of Clinical Audiology course package allows you to explore the physical, social and environmental aspects of health and science with the option to pursue a career in audiology.

In the Bachelor of Health Sciences you'll learn about the role of healthcare professionals and factors that influence health locally and around the world. Through this flexible course, you can chose to major in areas including public health, environmental health, health promotion, rehabilitation counselling, and health, wellbeing and performance.

Graduates who meet the entry requirements for the Master of Clinical Audiology can use their knowledge in anatomy and physiology gained from the bachelor to develop specialised knowledge and skills. You’ll learn how to prevent hearing, tinnitus and balance disorders, plus assessment techniques and how to identify treatment options.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Majors

Audiology (Master of Clinical Audiology only), Environmental health, Health promotion, Health, wellbeing and performance, Human physiological sciences, Psychological science, Public health, Rehabilitation counselling.

Potential Career Outcomes

Qualified audiologists can find work in the public health and not-for-profit sectors, or in private clinics. Upon completion of this course package you could work in major hospitals, private audiology clinics and research facilities.

Possible roles include:
  • Clinical audiologist (private practice)
  • Clinical audiologist (institutional)
  • Research audiologist
