If you have been granted credit transfer or wish to apply for credit transfer for this course on the basis of previous study and you are granted credit, this may mean you will not be able to enrol in Year 2 or higher year topics, nor able to enrol on a full-time basis until 2025.
The Bachelor of Information Technology has been designed to provide a strong foundation in both the theoretical and the practical aspects of information technology and information systems management. This degree contains a strong, practical understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities and the ability to critically analyse and evaluate complex information and solve problems. The degree provides an awareness of social, economic, cultural, and environmental aspects of information technology and preparation for future management roles as an information technologist.
On completion of this degree students will be able to competently use professional skills and knowledge in the systematic development of complex information systems and demonstrate a broad understanding of the information technology discipline. Students will be able to apply skills and knowledge in a professionally responsible manner and communicate effectively with other information technology professionals and the wider global community using a wide range of communication technologies.
This degree prepares graduates for employment in IT, an area of continual growth and has become integral to all areas of life including medical research, business, and the environment. Potential occupations may include application support analyst, business intelligence consultant and graduate developer; potential employers may include software developers, customer support and service and website developers.

Combining degrees enables students to follow their interests and aspirations and enhance their career prospects by undertaking a second area of study in addition to their primary degree. Completing an approved combined degree option will normally add at least one extra year (full-time equivalent) to their studies. For example, students combining two three-year full-time equivalent degrees are normally able to complete both degrees in four years of full-time equivalent study.
