Overview

Make an impact on the global stage by helping to reduce poverty and empower marginalised people in developing countries. This course will give you the knowledge, critical perspectives understanding and skills needed for competent, compassionate, ethical and professional engagement with communities in the developing world. You will gain hands-on experience in an international humanitarian or development program through the compulsory immersion experience unit.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Subject proficiency: As for year 12 or equivalent.

Majors

International Development Studies.

Potential Career Outcomes

Human rights advocacy; social entrepreneurship; fair trade business; eco and responsible tourism; charity and humanitarian work; private aid distributor; working with NGO, government service, or international systems such as United Nations and World Bank.
