Overview

Learn how to use language and intercultural communication skills in a diverse and rapidly changing global environment. Gain working proficiency in a foreign language other than English, develop global knowledge and skills in intercultural communication, negotiation, intercultural, social, and linguistic issues and processes. Undertake a professional internship with a language-focused/intercultural organisation in Australia or overseas and have access to overseas exchange programs and study tours as part of a close-knit and vibrant student community. 

Graduates possess the initiative, independence, language and entrepreneurial skills to face the challenges of working and managing within and across culturally diverse environments. From international business communication in China to facilitating development assistance in South America, or working for a global organisation in multicultural Melbourne, graduates of this course can choose from a range of careers.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL or at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
