In an ever-changing world, the study of languages has never been more relevant. This course is designed to help you develop proficiency in one or more languages, whether you studied a language at school or not.

Languages are fascinating, nuanced and deeply entwined with culture. When you study our Bachelor of Languages you will gain a thorough understanding of the language’s cultural context and can choose to delve into literature and/or other cultural aspects. You will learn about the systems that form the basis of language, understand language’s role in society, and build a greater appreciation of cultural diversity.

The degree is interactive and immersive. It includes two trimesters studying in the country or countries of your chosen language/s, subject to COVID-19 travel restrictions. In-country experience broadens your career options, giving you a competitive advantage in today’s increasingly multicultural and international workplace environments.

We have agreements or bilateral exchange agreements with universities in China, France and French-speaking Canada, Germany and Austria, Indonesia, Italy, Japan and Spain. Tuition fees are waived when you’re on exchange, and you will be assisted with finding accommodation and a level of pastoral care is provided. Some financial assistance is available in connection with study at certain of these universities.
