Overview

Stand out from other law graduates with this 4.5 year degree. This course combines core law units with units of legal study which cover the requisite areas of knowledge (also referred to as the 'Priestley Eleven'), together with practical subjects, in both law and criminology. You will gain competencies in essential legal areas plus an additional focus on criminology and the criminal justice system. Together with core units, you will study criminal activity and criminal justice responses, processes and approaches in policing and offending, corrections and the courts.

You will gain training in practical skills such as analytical legal writing, drafting, communication and advocacy and gain an understanding of research within the criminal justice system. This course consists of 36 units, comprising both Law and Criminology units. It is conducted predominantly at our historic City Queen Campus.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Economics, any History, Legal Studies, Australian Politics, Global Politics or Psychology.

Majors

Criminology, Law.
