Overview

This course combines core law units with units of legal study which cover the requisite areas of knowledge (also referred to as the 'Priestley Eleven') together with practical law and non-law electives that cover a broad range of legal areas. You will gain legal knowledge with a broad perspective and develop professional skills in ethical judgement, legal research and writing, interviewing and advocacy. You will also gain specialised education and skills in core areas of law.

Our partnerships with the courts and community legal services gives you a unique exposure to the real experience of the justice system. These opportunities challenge you through practical experiences for a rewarding career in law that could range from working for government, the community or in private enterprise.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Economics, any History, Legal Studies, Australian Politics, Global Politics or Psychology.

Majors

Law.

Potential Career Outcomes

You may find employment in a number of areas including a career as a lawyer or legal practitioner, solicitor, barrister, human rights advocate or policy adviser in criminal, family, commercial or business law.
