Swinburne’s Laws/Engineering (Honours) double degree provides you with an accredited qualification in law whilst enabling learning to be contextualised to the discipline of engineering.

The degree also provides you with a broad, well-rounded legal education that inculcates an understanding of the role the law plays in our society and of how it can assist Australia as a trading nation.

All Swinburne degrees include a guaranteed Work Integrated Learning opportunity. In this degree, you’ll complete professional experience placements at organisations in Australia or overseas. You'll also apply your learning in eight professionally focused, engineering industry-linked projects.

When you graduate, you'll have the technical expertise and management skills for a career within biomedical, civil, construction, manufacturing, mechanical, network and telecommunication engineering environments.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL or at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL); Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 or equivalent.

Potential Career Outcomes

Graduates will be equipped for careers in diverse settings such as law firms and barristers’ chambers, not-for-profits, government, small businesses and large multinational organisations including engineering firms and consultancies. Possible roles include solicitor, lawyer, legal adviser, corporate counsellor, manager, compliance and regulation manager, project manager, entrepreneur, intellectual property lawyer, commercial lawyer, startup legal adviser.
