Overview

This combined degree allows students to complete qualifications in Laws and Business with a combined study plan to reduce the overall duration of the course. In the Bachelor of Laws - Legal Pratice Entry, you'll focus on legal skills and critical perspectives on the function of law. You'll develop high-level communication, presentation and collaboration skills in preparation for future roles in a range of settings. If your focus is not admission to practice, the Bachelor of Laws - Legal Practice Entry allows for faster completion. International relations and political science is a degree for students with an interest in political and social questions that arise where they live and overseas. You'll gain a comprehensive grounding in politics, public policy and international relations, and an understanding of Australia's political system in a regional and global context.

While the pace of technological and social change within the legal profession is unrelenting, Flinders Law students will graduate well-prepared to take advantage of new opportunities and to make a difference in a challenging, rewarding field. Designed to equip students with the knowledge to work in the emerging areas of data protection and cybersecurity, blockchain, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and social justice innovation, with a suite of core topics exploring the relationships between the law and technology.

Develop an innovation and entrepreneurial mindset to respond to 21st century opportunities, this course has international study opportunities available in China and Indonesia.

Our International Relations and Political Science students will study with SA's largest group of international relations and political science experts. They will have the opportunity to experience unique internship opportunities with the US Congress (Washington) and Consulate (Melbourne), and gain access to South Australian Parliamentary internships and other internship opportunities in the public and private sectors. Graduates will have skills which are in high demand across many sectors. Today's employers are seeking graduates who can lead, analyse and pre-empt movements within the political arena. As well as specific skills, students will develop enhanced general skills relevant to many jobs. Our graduates are employed in areas including international government and non-government organisations, diplomacy, foreign affairs, social analysis, journalism, research, management, the parliamentary sector, defence, intelligence, foreign aid, humanitarian services, politics, education, language services and media.

Graduates of the Law degree must also complete a practical legal training course to make them eligible to apply to the Supreme Court for admission to practise as a barrister and solicitor in South Australia.
