Overview

Combine a degree in international politics, economics and diplomacy with a legal qualification.

International relations subjects give you a comprehensive understanding of the political, strategic, economic, cultural, legal and organisational dynamics that shape international affairs. Herein, you’ll be encouraged to think critically about the major challenges facing the world. You can also take electives related to a particular region or field of interest.

Law studies cover the fundamental principles of Australian law and civil litigation, along with property, contract and constitutional laws. You can also choose elective subjects such as Human Rights Law, Public International Law and International Crime.

You'll have the opportunity to undertake an international relations placement subject in an Australian government or non-government organisation. You may also participate in international mooting competitions or travel on exchange to one of our international partner universities.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

You’ll be prepared for a career in international affairs, development, law, politics, policy-making or research.

You may find employment opportunities in government and non-government organisations, community sectors or private law firms, where you’ll apply your knowledge of social justice issues and offer a global law perspective.
