Overview

This double degree will prepare you for work in fields where law, psychology and mental health merge. You will study a number of units including criminal law, intercultural and developmental issues in psychology, clinical aspects of psychology and interviewing and advocacy skills. The combined degree equips you with an understanding of yourself and others, including clients and those involved in the legal and psychological studies fields.

This course combines core law units with units of legal study which cover the requisite areas of knowledge (also referred to as the 'Priestley Eleven'), together with practical subjects such as analytical legal writing, drafting, communication and advocacy. It also comprises a range of Law electives that cover a broad range of legal areas.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Economics, any History, Legal Studies, Australian Politics, Global Politics or Psychology.

Majors

Law, Psychology.

Potential Career Outcomes

The type of careers this qualification leads to may include in-house lawyer, legal adviser, policy adviser, solicitor or barrister.
