The Bachelor of Mathematics Advanced is designed for students who have superior mathematical knowledge on entry to UOW. For high school students, this means they have studied the highest level of mathematics possible.
This advanced degree offers a practical program to high-achieving students, providing adaptability and application, which is highly valuable in industry and research organisations. It also provides excellent preparation for further study at university.
You'll benefit by learning from recognised and passionate leaders in their fields. You will learn core fundamentals across practical and theoretical subjects in the first year of your degree before deciding which major and electives to focus on from the second year. Throughout this degree, you will gain hands-on experience, make meaningful professional connections, and be given the opportunity to pursue corporate scholarships, summer scholarships, and undergraduate research projects with academic staff.
Mathematics Extension 2 (Band 3).
This degree offers a flexible structure allowing you to take one intensive first-year subject, and accelerate your studies by taking second-year subjects in your first year.
You will undertake research projects in your second and third years and study subjects in applied statistics, industrial/applied mathematics, mathematical analysis and pure mathematics. These projects will enable you to work closely with active academic researchers to develop your independent learning and critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Analyst, banking associate, business forecaster, financial analyst, investment analyst, mathematical modeller, mathematics teacher (with Master of Teaching), meteorologist, quantitative trader, risk manager, statistician, stockbroker, transport analyst.
