Develop practical teaching skills alongside advanced knowledge in mathematics when you study the Bachelor of Mathematics Education at UOW. You will develop your mathematical knowledge and professional teaching skills as you study a combination of maths and education subjects to enable you to practically apply both disciplines throughout your degree. You will build specific skills based on the many branches of mathematics and education as you learn how to meet learners' needs. On completion of this degree, you will play a critical role in your community as you teach the next generation of mathematicians.
You'll benefit by learning from recognised and passionate leaders in their fields. You will study a blend of advanced mathematics subjects alongside education and pedagogy subjects, allowing you to impart your mathematical knowledge in a classroom setting.
You will complete extensive professional experience throughout your degree, which allows you to learn by observation and apply your skills in the classroom. You may also have opportunities for rural and international professional experiences, to study overseas with UOW's international exchange and study abroad partners, and to join international cultural immersion programs. Throughout this degree, you will gain hands-on experience, make meaningful professional connections, and be given the opportunity to pursue corporate scholarships, summer scholarships, and undergraduate research projects with academic staff.
All applicants must have studied the equivalent of Mathematics Advanced or higher at year 12 level.
