Apply scientific and mathematical expertise to solve organisational challenges or address global issues across the sciences, engineering, information technology, economics and the business world. Combine the flexibility and breadth of a science degree with an in-depth knowledge of mathematics. Students explore and challenge their thinking with 24 majors to follow their scientific passion. In their mathematics studies students develop their comprehensive specialised knowledge and sophisticated application of mathematics. Select from over 60 courses in mathematics and statistics. Solve data driven problems in the physical and biological sciences, engineering, information technology, economics and business. Students apply critical thinking and problem solving skills and broaden their career prospects during practical industry projects, placements, research projects, internships or international study opportunities through UQ's local and global networks. Graduates are employed for their interdisciplinary knowledge and advanced quantitative analytic skills to play a key role at the forefront of new developments and to address today's global challenges. Applied mathematics; archaeological science; biochemistry and molecular biology; bioinformatics; biomedical science; cell biology; chemistry; coastal and ocean science; computer science; data analytics and operations research, earth science, ecology and conservation biology; food science and nutrition; food technology; genetics; geographical science; marine biology; mathematical physics; microbiology; microbiology, infection and immunity, physics; plant science; psychology; public health; pure mathematics, statistics; zoology. You cannot complete the mathematics major in the Bachelor of Science or complete the same field of study in both degrees (eg statistics).
