University of Canberra - Canberra
This degree will provide students with comprehensive knowledge and skills in key disciplines in medical science and knowledge of the interactions between cellular, chemical and biological science that underpin medical practice. The curriculum builds upon the foundational core major in science and enables the understanding of human biological systems at the molecular, cellular, and organ and whole organism level.
The Bachelor of Medical Science focuses on professional skills, and takes an integrated approach to examining contemporary issues in health and disease in the latter half of the course. It is structured as a double specialist major degree, to enable skills that the sector requires in an ever-changing environment. In addition to the core major in science, students must complete specialist majors in the pathological basis and the molecular basis of disease. Please note that this degree is fully constrained, which means that it contains no open elective space. The degree is intended for students who wish to pursue careers in research or in postgraduate medicine. Students with a broader interest in allied health or related fields should consider 368093 Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science) instead.
