Overview

If you have an interest in health, a passion to understand and educate how the science of how food affects our lives, and good communication skills, an exciting career in nutrition and dietetics is for you. You’ll develop knowledge and skills to work as a dietitian and learn how to help improve the health of individuals and the community. You’ll learn through extensive practical experience in state-of-the-art facilities, including a purpose-built teaching kitchen and a nutrition clinic in the Griffith Health Centre. You’ll develop an understanding of chemistry, anatomy, physiology and biochemistry before taking advanced study in human nutrition and dietetics. In the final phase of your degree, you’ll complete a minimum of 20 consecutive weeks of full-time professional placement in a variety of sites across Queensland and interstate. Prerequisites

Potential Career Outcomes

As a nutrition and dietetics professional, you’ll be qualified to work in traditional roles in the health industry as a dietitian/ nutritionist in private and public hospitals, community health services, health promotion and public health units, and in the emerging areas of private practice, and the food and pharmaceutical industries.
