Overview

Our undergraduate course reflects the most current science to equip the nutrition professionals of the future with fundamental knowledge and skills to tackle the current and emerging global issues in nutrition. Studies in nutrition science at Monash will provide you with a comprehensive education that taps into the multi-faceted discipline of human nutrition and includes an appreciation of the broad scope of food in society, in-depth knowledge of nutritional and biomedical science and the role of nutrition in health and disease.

Your extensive training in Nutrition Science that comes from the successful completion of the undergraduate Nutrition Science degree is also the pathway to our Master of Nutrition and Dietetics program. The Masters may be completed in 1.5 years full time. Graduates of this combined 4.5-year program will be awarded a Bachelor of Nutrition Science (Scholars Program) and the DA accredited Master of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 27 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in one of Biology or Chemistry.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 (or Year 12 equivalent).

Majors

Food Science, Nutrition, Nutrition Science, Public Health Nutrition.

Potential Career Outcomes

The type of careers this qualification leads to may include Nutritionist/Nutrition Scientist in food industry, government and non-government health and research agencies, public health nutrition, food and health policy and regulation, consumer education, food science, sports nutrition, nutrition research. Further study may qualify you as a Dietitian.
