Overview

Start your career as a paramedic by learning practical clinical skills in patient assessment and emergency treatment. You’ll learn lifesaving skills using scenario-based simulation assessments, industry-based clinical placements which support a solid theoretical foundation. Over the three year program, you will progressively learn the responsibilities required to be one of the most trusted, registered health professionals. Our state-of-the-art facilities include clinical practice rooms, self-directed learning laboratories, and clinical simulations using mannequin technology.

Students who exit this course after successful completion of first year may be eligible to be awarded a Diploma in Paramedic Studies.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Majors

Paramedicine.

Potential Career Outcomes

Graduates may consider initial employment as a graduate intern with jurisdictional ambulance service or other health/hospital service providers in primary community care roles. The degree is well regarded with ambulance services in the National Health Service UK, United States and New Zealand. On completing a graduate internship, additional training for specialist and/or senior specialist roles such as community paramedic, paramedic practitioner, clinical academic or researcher are available.
