Overview

This unique double degree program provides you with the training required for accreditation to legal practice, but within a wider philosophical focus. You complete units in Philosophy side-by-side with your Law studies throughout this five-year program. The study of Philosophy provides Law students with keen insight into the broader context within which the law operates, an enhanced awareness of the complexities of legal theory and practice, as well as the analytical skills needed in contemporary legal practice. High quality coursework in Philosophy is a hallmark of many of the world’s finest Law programs, including those at leading Catholic universities.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 or equivalent.

Potential Career Outcomes

Private practice as a solicitor or barrister; legal policy advisor; in-house counsel for corporations, regulatory authorities, trade unions and NGOs; education; government administration; public and policy development; media and communications; commerce and industry; specialist legal  practice in community and charitable organisations, cultural institutions.
