Overview

A Bachelor of Psychology from RMIT will provide you with a wide range of knowledge and skills regarding human behaviour. 

In addition to learning about personality, psychopathology and psychotherapy, you will explore social, developmental, biological and cognitive psychology, as well as research methods in psychology. You will cover topics such as perception and consciousness, theories of learning, memory, cognition, emotion, motivation, well-being and stress. You will also undertake studies in Health Wellbeing and Nutrition, Counselling and Virtual Care, as well as concepts behind Working with Psychological Health.

Your Study will be based on the Scientist-Practitioner Model, where you will apply research knowledge to actual situations to help understand and respond to real life human issues and challenges. Third year includes psychological assessment, personality and psychopathology with an option to work on staff-initiated research project or a minimum 120 hour industry placement.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL or at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Biological Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Organisational Psychology, Philosophy and Methodology, Professional Practices, Psychological Assessment and Psychopathology, Psychology of Gender, Research Methods, Social Psychology.

The type of careers this qualification leads to may include organisational management, health counsellor, sport/personal trainer, cross-cultural studies, counselling, human resources, working with people with disabilities, and market research.
