Griffith University - Gold Coast
Public health is the science of healthy populations, centred on hygiene, epidemiology, disease and injury prevention. This degree focuses on the systems and practices that shape the health of nations, communities and individuals and the environments in which we live, work and take our leisure. It explores issues that influence a community’s or an individual’s ability to be healthy, from the micro level including personal behaviours to macro level influences such as the legislative and policy environment, globalisation, technology, environmental degradation and social structures.
As a graduate, you will be qualified to work in public health roles across the world, addressing major health issues including chronic disease, sexual health, nutrition, HIV/AIDS, physical inactivity, and drug and alcohol abuse, in settings such as workplaces, hospitals and schools. In the final year, you’ll put your academic studies into practice through professional placements in public health organisations, either in local or international locations.
Applicants applying to commence in Trimester 3, 2023 also need to meet the following subject prerequisite: Any two units of English (Band 3).
