This degree allows students to develop an extensive understanding of the scientific principles that underpin plant and animal production; both in Australia and overseas (through optional international study tours). Graduates from this degree are keenly sought by employers in a wide range of fields at national and international levels in horticulture, agronomy and soil science, precision agriculture, animal health and nutrition, plant and animal genetics, agribusiness and farm management. Students who complete a research project in the fourth year will be considered for the award of honours, allowing for direct progression into all fields of agricultural research.

UNE is proud of its long history in agricultural education and is focussed on delivering degrees that utilise knowledge from its world class research in agriculture, livestock, soil and plant sciences.

Gain international experience by completing an international exchange for a trimester with one of our partner universities. Enrol in units examining agricultural production and business involving international travel to various Asian, European or North American countries. Complete your practical industry experience overseas.

With small class sizes and excellent staff to student ratios this course is offered both online and on campus. Students can progress to masters and PhD programs.

Students in UNE’s Bachelor of Rural Science can specialise with a minor in: agricultural sustainability, agricultural technology, business, climate Resilience, cotton production, genetics, livestock production, plant production, and sheep and wool.
