Overview

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) (Geography) differs from the Bachelor of Science (Geography) in that it offers direct entry to an Honours year, subject to meeting the minimum academic performance requirements to progress. Students in the Bachelor of Science (Honours) (Geography) follow the same program of study as those in the Bachelor of Science (Geography) for the first three years. The skills obtained during Honours will be of great benefit whatever students choose to do after completion, whether it is progressing to a research higher degree, further study in another area or moving into employment. The Bachelor of Science (Geography) enables students to gain a broad foundation in geography and offers a powerful mix of interdisciplinary skills to solve a range of real-world problems. Students are able to investigate the dynamic relationships between humans, their cultures, and environments, and cover a range of contemporary issues including social and environmental justice, and the efficient, equitable and sustainable use of resources. Since Geography is the study of place, space and the environment, Geographers ask questions about how societies and environments are connected to one another; how and why they change; and how and why their characteristics vary across time and space at different scales.
