Overview

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) (Hydrology) differs from the Bachelor of Science (Hydrology) in that it offers direct entry to an Honours year, subject to meeting the minimum academic performance requirements to progress. Students in the Bachelor of Science (Honours) (Hydrology) follow the same program of study as those in the Bachelor of Science (Hydrology) for the first three years. The skills obtained during Honours will be of great benefit whatever students choose to do after completion, whether it is progressing to a research higher degree, further study in another area or moving into employment.Hydrology is the study of water movement across the globe, within catchments and urban areas, and below the ground, and is an essential discipline for managing freshwater to meet human and environmental needs. The Bachelor of Science (Hydrology) delves into the science of water movement in the atmosphere, surface systems and aquifers, and considers such cross-disciplinary aspects as water quality, ecological water requirements, field and computer-based methods of investigation, and management practices. Students may tailor their degree by choosing from a range of elective topics that enables them to develop critical analysis and interpretation skills in hydrological problems, with practical links to real-world issues associated with human and environmental dependencies.
