Overview

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) (Marine Biology and Aquaculture) differs from the Bachelor of Science (Marine Biology and Aquaculture) in that it offers direct entry to an Honours year, subject to meeting the minimum academic performance requirements to progress. Students in the Bachelor of Science (Honours) (Marine Biology and Aquaculture) follow the same program of study as those in the Bachelor of Science (Marine Biology and Aquaculture) for the first three years. The skills obtained during Honours will be of great benefit whatever students choose to do after completion, whether it is progressing to a research higher degree, further study in another area or moving into employment.Marine biology is the study of the living world in the sea, from the simple molecules that support life, to mammals and to entire marine ecosystems. Aquaculture is applied science at the most practical level - and is more than just fish farming. It includes research and production of animals such as oysters, crayfish, and even aquatic plants such as seaweed. The Bachelor of Science (Marine Biology and Aquaculture) allows you to combine studies in aquacultural production technologies and business skills with scientific study of the diversity of life in the sea. This double specialisation will equip you to take up positions in either the research or applied science sectors.
