Overview

Marine biology is the study of the living world in the sea, from the simple molecules that support life, to mammals and to entire marine ecosystems. Aquaculture is applied science at the most practical level - and is more than just fish farming. It includes research and production of animals such as oysters, crayfish, and even aquatic plants such as seaweed. The Bachelor of Science (Marine Biology and Aquaculture) allows you to combine studies in aquacultural production technologies and business skills with scientific study of the diversity of life in the sea. This double specialisation will equip you to take up positions in either the research or applied science sectors.Graduates will be well-equipped to take up positions in either the research or applied science sectors, in areas such as government, university or privately funded research science, conservation, government marine policy, planning and decision making, community education, marine based tourism, environmental consultancies, and maintaining and developing new aquaculture operations and technologies.
