Overview

The Bachelor of Science (Molecular Science) enables you to gain a broad foundation in molecular bioscience together with extensive subject knowledge in specialised topics such as molecular biology, biochemistry and microbiology. The specialisation has applications in medicine, agriculture, forensic science, and the study of evolutionary relationships. In addition to developing a range of transferable research, analytical and communication skills, one of the primary outcomes of this degree is the development of the student’s molecular, biochemical and microbiological practical skill set through the significant hands-on experiments in the majority of the topics. Practicals enable you to master a diverse set of laboratory skills that can be applied to many of today’s most crucial scientific problems.Graduates with a molecular biosciences specialisation usually work in a laboratory setting but they may also become involved in field-based projects. Examples of possible future careers in the Molecular Bioscience field include molecular scientist, microbiologist, clinical research associate and quality assurance officer.
