This course is available if you hold an overseas nursing qualification and are registered as a general nurse from overseas, or were a Registered nurse whose Australian registration in Division 1 has lapsed due to a lack of currency of practice (must have practised within the last 10 years).
The program takes the study of biological and behavioural sciences that underpin nursing to greater depth. You will explore nursing research ethics, professional practice, management, bioscience, behavioural science and inter-professional education, to assist you to actively contribute to providing care as a member of an inter-professional healthcare team. A problem-solving approach is encouraged, with particular focus on identifying and assessing health problems, and the nursing needs of individuals and their families.
The course also establishes a basis for future postgraduate study, specialisation and research.
Completion of this course allows the student to seek registration as a registered nurse (Division 1) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
