Overview

Get ready for a journey of discovery. This degree gives you what you need to take on Master Teaching (Secondary)/(Primary) and become an inspiring science teacher of the future. You could also get involved in the exciting world of research or carve out a great career in industry, forensics, medical laboratories, the list goes on.

You'll choose a major (see areas of study), but you can change your major later in the course.  You will also complete an Education Studies minor which are four subjects in the Master of Teaching. The other four subjects to complete your degree are yours to choose- four more subjects in Science or from other Schools or a combination of both.

To gain the necessary learning areas to satisfy the NSW Education Standards Authority requirements for entry into teaching, graduates of the Bachelor Science (Pathways to Teaching) would then enroll in the Master of Teaching (Secondary)/(Primary) which is normally a two year course.  However, because you have already completed four of the Masters subjects, this reduces the time to complete this Masters to 1 ½ years. This consecutive completion of a BSc and Master Teaching can qualify you for a teaching career in 4.5 years .

For all teaching programs: Western Sydney University reserves the right to vary teaching programs to enable students to meet any additional provisions in relation to teacher registration, which may be required by relevant external organisations.
