Overview

The Bachelor of Screen Media will equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in this rapidly evolving field. With a highly contemporary focus, it aims to provide you with both practical and theoretical foundations in all aspects of screen media.

You will engage in hands-on practical projects that will enable you to develop your media production skills, exploring various platforms for content distribution, including online platforms, video-on-demand services, streaming sites and the intricacies of intellectual property. You will learn how to create media content tailored for different platforms and audiences.

Also, as part of this course, you will explore the theoretical underpinnings of screen media and develop the analytical and critical thinking abilities necessary for success in media industries. You will explore emerging and transitioning industries, drawing from multiple established traditions in theory and professional practice.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Majors

Screen media.

Potential Career Outcomes

The course is designed to equip students to enter into and succeed within a range of professional roles that include producers, directors, cinematographers, production managers, sound recordists, post production supervisors & editors, distributors and cross-platform content creators.
