Overview

Discover how and why we live the way we do when you study social science at UOW. You will learn how to understand the complex and changing needs of societies in the face of technological, economic and social changes that affect the smallest of communities to the largest of nations.

What range of social problems face our society today? What tools do we have to create solutions for a better tomorrow? On completion, you will be able to answer these questions and more as you will seek to understand society and social behaviour in order to positively transform the lives of individuals, families, communities and their environments.

You'll benefit by learning from recognised and passionate leaders in their fields. You will learn core fundamental knowledge across practical and theoretical subjects in the first year of your degree before deciding which major/minor disciplines to focus on from the second year. You will explore subjects like sociology, behavioural science, research methods, human geography, social advocacy and more as you begin to understand human development in the social context. Throughout this degree, you will gain hands-on experience and make meaningful professional connections across the broader field using integrated learning methods.
