Overview

The Bachelor of Social Sciences equips students with the skills to analyse, interpret and respond to some of society's most compelling and complex social issues. Looking through a variety of lenses, taken from the perspectives of politics, geography, anthropology, gender studies and Asian studies, students delve deeply into numerous multi-layered matters. These include issues such as poverty and inequality, the gender pay gap, homelessness, unemployment, Indigenous peoples and injustice, health and illness, refugees, and the social impacts of climate change. Students explore the social challenges we face in our increasingly globalised world and learn the techniques and methodologies to devise, implement, and evaluate policy solutions. Social scientists extract meaningful value from data and use this to design practical measures to address contemporary social justice problems and bring about positive change. Students build valuable qualitative and quantitative research skills, and have the opportunity to design their own independent research projects.
