La Trobe's Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) gives you the clinical knowledge and hands-on skills to make a difference by helping others to thrive.

You'll learn from world-renowned academics about promoting human rights and the importance of social justice. Our diverse range of subjects provide a strong foundation in psychology, sociology, human rights, social justice and relationship skills.

You'll gain real-world experience in social work through placements in hospitals and leading health and welfare organisations, and graduate with the skills, experience and confidence you need to succeed.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Majors

Social work.

Potential Career Outcomes

Graduates can find employment in private industries and public sectors, including:
  • Community health centres and hospitals
  • Government departments and non government agencies
  • Mental health and disability services
