Overview

This course provides the knowledge and skills for entry into professional careers in sport. You'll complete a range of subjects across the biological sciences, social sciences and humanities to understand the science of sport and its practical application in professional contexts. Depending on your interest and career goals, you can select from one of three major courses of study: 1)Sport Performance, focused on analysing and improving performance, health and participation in sport and exercise; 2) Human Movement, providing a holistic understanding of human movement, particularly in sport and physical activity contexts; or 3) Sport Coaching, focused on the development of coaching knowledge and skills through studies ranging from community-based coaching to advanced coaching units that focus on talent identification and athlete development.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Majors

Human movement, Sport coaching, Sport performance.

Potential Career Outcomes

This qualification may lead to careers in the areas of Sports Science; Strength and Conditioning Coaching; Health; Sport Coaching; Sport Development and Community; Sport Nutrition; Sport Performance; Sport Organisations and Governance; Community Sport and Health Promotion; and Exercise and Sports Science Research.
