Overview

This double degree opens career paths in the fields of sport psychology, exercise and health, sport performance and research. It delivers a balance of units across the biological sciences, social sciences and humanities for a career in sports, fitness, exercise and human movement. This course comprises 32 units, 16 from the Sport Science (Human Movement) degree and 16 from the Psychological Studies degree. You will get practical training with field experience from second to fourth year. The course will provide you with the foundation knowledge and skills for roles in exercise and sport science, community fitness and health, and sport policy, as well as psychological counselling and/or research.

When you study at Victoria University (VU) you’ll learn under our revolutionary new VU Block Model. VU’s Block Model enables you to study one unit at a time in smaller classes, meaning you’ll have more one-on-one time with your lecturers and be able to immerse yourself in each unit.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

The type of careers this qualification leads to may include exercise and sport scientist, sport psychology, community fitness and health services, personal fitness trainer, special populations training, counsellor, welfare worker, community worker, researcher, policy-maker and market researcher. The psychology specialisation is designed to provide preparation for a fourth year of study in psychology for those wishing to achieve professional accreditation.
