University of Adelaide - All Adelaide Campus
Develop your digital capabilities in our eLearning Program - the first and only one of its kind for Education students in Australia. All Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) students participate in the School of Education's eLearning Program that requires students to own an iPad with pencil and keyboard. The University of Adelaide will assist you with buying one via a subsidy. We will show you how to use your own iPad with pencil and keyboard to its full teaching potential so you can earn Apple Teacher status. You might even do your first year placement in an Apple Distinguished School.
Our Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) with Bachelor of Arts provides a unique pathway to a rewarding career.
You'll build deep understandings of the subjects you intend to teach, selecting from: economics; English; geography; history; languages (Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Modern Greek, Spanish); linguistics (EAL/D)*; legal studies (minor only); mathematics; media; music teaching (major only); and psychology.
You'll also:
The Bachelor of Teaching is for students who have not previously undertaken university study. If you have already commenced a degree, you should consider completing that degree and then apply for the Master of Teaching (Secondary). Students completing the requirements of the Bachelor of Teaching are eligible to gain credit towards the Master of Teaching (Middle and Secondary).
Prior to commencing fourth year of the degree, students must successfully complete both the literacy and numeracy components of the LANTITE. The LANTITE is administered through ACER.
Please note: Mid-year entry will only be available to domestic students. Due to the program structure and professional experience placements, students commencing mid-year study will complete their program in 4.5 years instead of 4 years. An accelerated 3.5 year option is also available. Additionally, please note that the business, languages, maths, and psychology teaching areas within this program may not be available for mid-year entry.
Current COVID-19 vaccination advice for pre-service teachers: The University and the School of Education will continue to monitor the COVID-19 vaccination requirements in South Australian schools and the impacts on its pre-service teachers and will provide further information as it becomes available.
