Overview

This broad-based program encompasses all aspects of existing veterinary practice but with a special focus on tropical and rural practice including tropical animal production. Veterinary science students acquire the knowledge and skills to diagnose, treat and prevent disease in a range of animals, including companion animals, farm animals, aquatic species, and native fauna. Students develop a thorough knowledge of animal production systems, particularly tropical animal husbandry and aquaculture. Clinical training is taken in a variety of settings across north Queensland including Townsville, Cairns, Mackay, Charters Towers and the Atherton Tableland.
