Overview

The Diploma in Allied Health Assistance is a one-year qualification that gives you the foundational skills to work as an allied health assistant or in related fields. Allied health assistants support allied health professionals such as occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech pathologists, dietitians and podiatrists to implement programs and one-on-one supports for people with disabilities and health conditions. They also support the day-to-day running of the practice, managing aspects such as bookings and equipment. In this program you will study the role of allied health assistants in the context of the Australian health and social care system, and learn about the anatomical, physiological, psychological and sociological factors influencing human function. You will also develop your communication skills, skills in running groups, and learn how to set up and maintain equipment.
