Overview

Develop strong language skills combined with a cultural understanding. Work towards a new career, further your existing career or simply study to improve your understanding of a particular language and its culture. The Diploma in Language offers a solid foundation for learning and using a language of your choice, and will help you develop cross-cultural knowledge and skills that are invaluable in international workplaces. Choose from French, Indonesian, Italian, Modern Greek or Spanish.

The Diploma in Language consists of 36 units and requires 3 years of part-time study only. The Diploma can be undertaken as a standalone course or concurrently with a Bachelor degree at the University. Students can be accommodated at either Beginners or Intermediate (equivalent to Year 12 SACE continuers level) levels of linguistic competence.

Graduates can proficiently communicate in the chosen language and gain broad language and cultural knowledge. Graduates have a critical understanding of the communities and key cultural aspects of contemporary societies and demonstrated knowledge and skills in cross-cultural communication.
