Overview

La Trobe’s Diploma of Arts is your pathway into one of our most varied and flexible degrees, a Bachelor of Arts.

Choose from our wide range of electives – ranging from politics and languages to environmental studies – and focus on the topics you’re passionate about straight away.

After graduating, you could transition straight into the second year of a Bachelor's degree. Along the way, you'll receive specialised support just for Diploma students.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Majors

Crime, justice & legal Studies, History, heritage and the environment, Human geography (Bendigo only), Indonesian (Bendigo only), Society, culture and social change, Writing and literature.

Potential Career Outcomes

Possible roles include:

  • Administration assistant Support an organisation by monitoring phones and emails, scheduling meetings and performing basic administration tasks.
  • Marketing assistant Help coordinate general marketing activities including scheduling meetings and events, monitoring online promotions and social media, and keeping websites up-to-date.
  • Journalist* Pitch and write a range of stories relevant to the public. Work with a media organisation or as a freelancer.
