Do you want to develop your language skills to build a global career? Whether you are brushing up or starting from scratch with a whole new language, Deakin's Diploma of Chinese is designed to sharpen your language skills and deepen your cultural understanding.

By studying Chinese (Mandarin) alongside your degree, you'll gain the linguistic skills, as well as the essential cultural, historical and social perspectives that will give you a leading edge in a range of exciting careers. 

Through this diploma, you will learn communication skills in Mandarin Chinese and develop an understanding of Chinese culture and ways of life. Gain fluency by taking part in activities across a range of topics focusing on grammar, lexicons, vocabulary and sentence structure. You will also learn about cultural, historical sociolinguistic and political dimensions of the societies and cultures that make up the Chinese speaking world.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Certificate IV: or higher, or concurrent Bachelor study.

Majors

Chinese.
