The Diploma of Music is a pathway program designed to help you transition into the Bachelor of Music. You’ll develop foundational knowledge and skills in a supportive learning environment, setting you up for success in your future studies. Situated in Queensland's vibrant cultural precinct, the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University at South Bank is acoustically and architecturally unparalleled in Australia. Study with a community of like-minded peers as you learn from award-winning music educators and benefit from the Queensland Conservatorium's strong partnerships with local cultural institutions. You’ll study academic foundations courses to develop a strong foundation in topics like exploring music, performance study, ‘my life as a musician’, as well as studio courses, and where relevant, Conservatorium Ensemble Studies, with additional support and access to a dedicated First Year Coordinator and Peer-Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) run by high-achieving students. Combined diploma/degrees: Upon successful completion of this diploma, you will be offered guaranteed entry into the second year of the Bachelor of Music.

Prerequisites

Majors

When you commence the Bachelor of Music in second year, you will be able to choose from the following majors: composition; creative music technology; education preparation (classroom); education preparation (instrumental); music studies; performance; popular music.
