Overview

Enhance your ability to manage complex, multi-faceted systems with this graduate certificate. As the fourth industrial revolution unfolds, this is a critical skill to have. Digital engineering transformation tools such as Building information modelling (BIM) and prototyping are becoming commonplace in engineering companies, and so is the use of remote sensing technology to provide new data streams to assist engineers to undertake data-driven decision-making. Engineering organisations and projects are using data to create new in-depth insights that aid in design, safety planning, project and business performance, environmental management and asset management to name a few.

This degree introduces systems thinking skills and analytical techniques such as Bayesian Networks, Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), decision-tree analysis and analytical network process to help you to understand how to structure a complex system and model its behaviour over time. You will be equipped with the skills, techniques and tools to tackle complex problems in a systematic manner, carefully evaluate interrelated complex system behaviours and explore the influence of various strategies on desired long-term multi-objective outcomes. This degree ensures you will have the ability to move away from myopic, siloed approaches and towards more holistic, evidence-based methods that avoid perverse outcomes and are sustainable long-term.
