Overview

This course has been developed specifically to help Australians to retrain, up-skill or enter the engineering field. Graduates will be able to apply for entry level positions in government authorities, private industry consulting firms or major engineering companies. Graduates will strengthen the workforce and through the application of science and mathematics to engineering problems will directly assist the community to move out of the current recession and to find new solutions for challenging problems.

The supportive learning environment and emphasis on small classes will equip students with strong foundational skills and knowledge in mathematics, physics, engineering practices and problem-solving methods. ‘Hands-on’ experience is gained in VU’s state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities.

This course serves as a foundation for engineering practice and provides a fast track into Engineering undergraduate degrees at VU.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in any Mathematics.

Majors

Engineering fundamentals.

Potential Career Outcomes

Graduates will be able to apply for entry level positions in government authorities, private industry consulting firms or major engineering companies.
