Overview

The Undergraduate Certificate in University Preparation is an excellent option if you do not meet degree entry requirements or would like to improve your study skills and confidence before you begin your chosen degree. If you are a non-school or non-ATAR applicant and have completed year eleven or above, or have work experience that demonstrates the development of literacy, numeracy and entry level professional skills, then completing the Undergraduate Certificate in University Preparation will give you guaranteed entry to most Charles Sturt undergraduate degrees.

The Undergraduate Certificate in University Preparation is a half year (single semester full time) award course that can be studied full time or part time at the Albury, Bathurst, Port Macquarie or Wagga Wagga campuses. The focus is on teaching the essential skills for successful university study as well as ensuring you have been introduced to some of the key understandings that are relevant to your chosen degree course. You will be offered high levels of learning support to complete one core academic literacy subject (LIT115) and three elective subjects. The electives are recommended based on prior learning and based on your planned degree choice, so you get the most effective and relevant preparation for your longer-term study. Depending on your chosen degree and choice of electives, completing the Undergraduate Certificate in University Preparation may give you credit towards your degree.

Three electives: (recommended on basis of prior attainment and study and degree aspiration: Preparing for University Study (recommended for students who have not completed Access Charles Sturt Entry), Mathematics and Statistics, Current Topics in Health and Bioscience, Current Topics in Natural and Physical Sciences.
