Overview

Professional writing and editing is a practical course that nurtures creative potential while building versatile industry skills. It recognises that professional writers and editors need to be proficient across all forms of print, as well as digital and social media.

In the first year, students study the craft of writing fiction and non-fiction, together with the fundamentals of effective communication and editing.  Students begin to develop related skills, including presenting information visually and advanced design skills.

In the second year, students specialise in their chosen field to prepare for work as a writer and/or editor, focusing on developing creative projects that reflect their interests and goals. Students complete a major online project in an area of their choice. Throughout the course, students connect with the writing and publishing industry through guest speakers, industry events, publishing projects and work placements.
