Overview

Professional writing and editing is a practical, industry-focused course that nurtures creative potential while building versatile employment skills. It recognises that professional writers and editors need to be proficient in various writing forms across both print and electronic media. Students study the craft of writing fiction and non-fiction, the fundamentals of effective communication and editing, and related advanced word processing and design skills. 

The Bachelor of Communication (Public Relations) teaches students about professional concepts and skills relating to public relations and strategic communication management, including the impact of globalisation and digital communication on professional practice. Students will gain industry experience in organisational communication and research and will develop public relations campaigns for real world clients.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in English other than EAL or at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
