Overview

Core studies in the first two years of this degree will help you build a solid foundation to diagnose and treat communication disorders, including difficulties with speech, language, fluency and voice. In third and fourth year, you may pursue your interests by selecting either the professional honours or research honours, where you will work on an individual project. As a graduate, you may work in public and private settings as a clinician, educator, policy advisor, manager, advocate, consultant and in other aligned roles.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in any English; Units 1 to 4: a study score of at least 25 in two units (any study combination) of Biology, Chemistry, Health And Human Development, any Mathematics, Physical Education or Physics.

Speech Pathology.

Potential Career Outcomes

As a speech pathologist you may work as a clinician, educator, researcher, policy advisor, manager, advocate or consultant in a variety of industries including government and non-government organisations, education, health, welfare, policy development, community-based organisations and private practice.
