Overview

Ready to write a great future? Creative writing is about unleashing your imagination, expressing your creativity, and communicating your ideas, whether through poetry, short stories, novels, speeches, scripts, or memoirs. To excel as a writer takes significant skill and even more passion.

What will you do?

Our Bachelor of Arts (Creative Writing) has a strong focus on teamwork, collaboration, and industry internships. You will:

  • read and write short stories, poetry, and other forms of creative non-fiction, such as travel, political, and life writing
  • explore a variety of literary genres, techniques, and theories to enhance your writing skills and versatility
  • receive guidance from a team of highly accomplished and internationally acclaimed writers to develop a sustained and reflective writing practice
  • gain a deep understanding of contemporary theories, practices, and technologies used in editing and publishing, both locally and internationally
In addition to creative writing, our Bachelor of Arts program allows you to explore other interests by taking a minor (or another major) in a different discipline area. You can choose elective courses from the broadest range of study areas in the Arts in South Australia.

Where could it take you?

You could be a literary agent, write fantasy novels, become a screenwriter, or pursue a career in true crime. You might work with an illustrator to create comics and children's books. Perhaps you'll be a copywriter, crafting advertisements in-house for a creative agency.
